When Cyclone Alfred tore through Hervey Bay and surrounding regions in early 2025, it left behind more than just floodwaters — it left families, businesses, and entire streets overwhelmed by damage, uncertainty, and loss.
At Kings Removals, we saw firsthand the devastation in our own community. Streets we drive every day were underwater. Homes we’ve moved people into were submerged. Local businesses—our clients, our friends—were facing heartbreaking destruction.
As soon as it was safe, our team got to work—not for profit, but for people.
Free Help Where It Was Needed Most
In the days following the cyclone, we offered free transport services to affected families and businesses across Hervey Bay and the Fraser Coast. Our trucks became lifelines: moving what could be salvaged to storage, helping families remove water-damaged furniture, and assisting local shops and cafés in clearing out debris and stock.
One of our biggest priorities was making things easier for those who had lost so much. That meant:
- Removing damaged furniture from homes to prevent mould and further damage.
- Transporting salvaged items to secure storage — at no charge.
- Working with local community groups and emergency responders to reach the worst-hit streets, even those still affected by floodwater.
The streets of Pialba, Urangan, and Scarness were flooded. We witnessed homes with water halfway up the walls. Local cafés and retail shops had floors submerged and stock destroyed. But amid the chaos, there was resilience—and we were proud to support that in every way we could.
